Moving Day!

December 14, 2007 | Category: Happenings | 1 Comment

Well, It’s official. I have taken a new job and will be moving over 15 hours away (by car) from my current location. I will be located close to our nation’s capitol in northern Virginia. I’m excited about the opportunity, but there is a lot to get done in the next week and a half before I move. Throw the holidays into the mix and I’ll be an extremely busy girl for the next few weeks.

With all I have to get done in the next few weeks, more than likely I will not be an active participant in any of the forums that I am involved in, nor will there be much activity on this site.  (Though, that’s not much different from normal, I guess. :) )

I’m still waiting on the movers to give me an official date, but I will more than likely be making my drive sometime the week of the 1st of January. I’ll be starting the new year with a brand new adventure. To all my friends in V’burg…stay in touch and come visit sometime!

Petit Jean State Park and The Old Mill

My Sunday School class went on a weekend retreat this past weekend — April 27-29, 2007 — to Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas. On the way through Little Rock, we also stopped by The Old Mill park to stretch our legs and take some photos.

Petit Jean State park is a very nice and scenic park with lots of great views, running water, and gigantic boulders to climb. One of the landmarks of the park is the 95 ft. Cedar Falls, which can be seen either from two different overlooks or by hiking 1 mile down the canyon to the base of the falls.

I have begun the process of filtering through the pictures I took and posting them in my gallery. But, I’m not through yet. The ones I have posted can be seen by going to my gallery <click here>. Or you can click on one of the thumbnails above.

Addendum: As of May 4, 2007, I have uploaded all of my photos from the trip — at least, all of them that I care to, anyway. Be forewarned if you’re going to the gallery…there are a bunch of them to look at. :)

Church Musical

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve put anything new on the site. In this post, you’ll see why.

On December 7 - 10, Highland Baptist Church performed it’s annual Christmas Musical Dinner Theater. This was my first time to be involved in it and I had such a good time. The musical was a hit and we served dinner to over 400 people and had over 600 total that attended the musical. I sang in the choir and had fun doing that, but that’s not what kept me so occupied. :) I also was part of the team that painted the set. So instead of doing digital art, I spent every day (starting the Monday after Thanksgiving) doing real art on a very large scale. There were probably an average of 8 people on any given night working on it the week and a half before the opening night.

IMG_4032.jpgThe musical was titled “Christmas on Main Street,” so for the set, we had a main street with four shops facades on the stage and two full structured shops on the side. One of the structures even had an upstairs “apartment balcony” sturdy enough to support people.

On the Wednesday of our dress rehearsal, I grabbed my camera and arrived early to take some pictures of the completed set. If you’d like to see all the pictures in the gallery, click here or click the thumbnail image.

At the end of September, I had to travel to Washington, DC for a work-related meeting. Since the meeting fell on a Friday, I jumped at the opportunity and stayed for a few more days to do some sight-seeing. The only other time I’d been to DC was a quick in/out for work and there was no time to play tourist.

Seagrove Beach, FL

October 3, 2006 | Category: Happenings, Photography, Travel | Leave a Comment

On September 20-24, 2006, I spent time with my Aunt, Uncle and Cousin at Seagrove Beach, FL. It was a nice time of relaxation and fun in the sun. The weather was nice and the company was great. We spent our days our in the sun walking the beach or swimming in the waves. At night we would chase ghost crabs (Chloe’s favorite activity for the week! — aside from watching her new Scooby Doo DVD, that is. :) ) and look at the stars — the milky way was clearly visible.
